Algerian Fig Trees: Botanical and Morphometric Leaf Characterization

چکیده

Leaf morphology in plants is very important the evaluation of intraspecific variation. Indeed, leaves fig tree (Ficus carica L.) present a great diversity shape and size. The study consists botanical, morphological, morphometric characterization 26 local varieties cultivated different areas Bejaia (northeast Algeria). Our results indicate that morphological parameters allowed good differentiation studied cultivars according to descriptors (UPOV) among independent their growing environment. Moreover, method description proposed this paper allows comparison them an objective way by simple mathematical methods. This demonstrates existence high percentage polymorphisms within varieties, but also classification number lobes, depth lateral sinuses, degree openness angles performed main veins leaves. Azougagh variety characterized wider angles, and, on contrary, Tassahlit has least-open angles. None presented “entire” majority with five lobes. Tilizwith, Tazarzourth, Avarkan, Tamkarkourth, Inconnu B differed clearly from rest showing seven lobes deep sinuses. In contrast, Zarika, Baccor Blanc, Avarkan Lisse, Avgaiti only three first work using methods, which are shown be complementary UPOV code efficient separating even closed varieties. It will interesting extend these studies larger scales areas.

PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF Melia azedarach L. FRUIT AND LEAF FOR USE AS BOTANICAL INSECTICIDE

A study was undertaken of the physical and chemical characteristics and insecticide properties of melia (Melia azedarach L.) (Meliaceae) fruit and leaves; melia has been introduced in Chile for ornamental purposes. The physical and chemical properties were evaluated in two stages of fruit and leaf maturity, i.e., green /mature, and mature/juvenile, respectively. Laboratory bioassays were carrie...

Melissopalynological Characterization of North Algerian Honeys

A pollen analysis of Algerian honey was conducted on a total of 10 honey samples. The samples were prepared using the methodology described by Louveaux et al., that was then further adapted by Ohe et al. The samples were subsequently observed using light microscopy. A total of 36 pollen taxa were discovered and could be identified in the analyzed honey samples. Seventy percent of the studied sa...

Ancient fig wasps indicate at least 34 Myr of stasis in their mutualism with fig trees.

Fig wasps and fig trees are mutually dependent, with each of the 800 or so species of fig trees (Ficus, Moraceae) typically pollinated by a single species of fig wasp (Hymenoptera: Agaonidae). Molecular evidence suggests that the relationship existed over 65 Ma, during the Cretaceous. Here, we record the discovery of the oldest known fossil fig wasps, from England, dated at 34 Ma. They possess ...

Trees, forests and jungles: a botanical garden for cluster expansions

Combinatoric formulas for cluster expansions have been improved many times over the years. Here we develop some new combinatoric proofs and extensions of the tree formulas of Brydges and Kennedy, and test them on a series of pedagogical examples.
